Hi, my name’s Paul Johnson. I’m not sure why you’d be interested in me rather than the services I provide, but apparently the website would be incomplete without such fascinating information, so here it is! Long, long ago, before ebooks and kdp, I wrote a novel. Traditional publishers showed no interest in it, however, so I gave up on it, and focused on developing my career as a software developer. 

More recently, it came to my attention that the world of self-publishing had totally changed. I spent some time researching the possibilities, and concluded that the most realistic way to make a living as a novelist is to write a series of books – and to do so pretty quickly. For a while a was under the delusion that I could do that. But eventually I had to accept that it just wasn’t something I was cut out for.

In the process, however, I learned a couple of worthwhile things. First, that there are many self-published authors who are in need of good, reasonably-priced editors. Second, the skills that made me a good software developer – attention to detail, ability to concentrate, an eye for fixing “bugs” and making things work more effectively – were the same skills required of a good editor. So I did an online course on editing and proofreading, read a bunch of books, brushed up on my grammar, familiarized myself with the most popular style guides, and I’m now finally seeing my work published – admittedly a rather small amount of work, riding on the back of the far more significant work done by actual authors, but still – I like to think it counts!
